Many people do not realize the vast differences between physical therapy clinics. Patients often choose their PT clinic based on proximity to their home or work without realizing the variation in each therapist’s approach and training. Physical therapists use a variety of treatment techniques, including manual therapy, exercise, patient education, and modalities like ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat or ice. Some therapists utilize more hands-on techniques than others, such as myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, and neural mobilization. The therapists at Carlson ProCare understand the importance of these manual therapy techniques as part of a whole-body approach to treating patients. We don’t look at our patients as having just a knee or a shoulder problem; we look at the entire body to understand and treat the root cause of that knee or shoulder problem.
Some clinics schedule up to 4 patients per hour, which does not give the therapist a lot of time to spend with each patient. We schedule two patients per hour and never double-book patients. That means that you get 30 minutes with your physical therapist, one-on-one, every visit. We don’t turn you over to an aide or tech for exercises. We want to be able to see and correct any faulty movement patterns that may be contributing to your problem. Our one-on-one method gets patients better, faster.
If you are not progressing as well as you or your doctor think you should be in physical therapy, our therapists are here to help. We often provide second (and third) opinions for patients who have not improved at other PT clinics. Contact Carlson ProCare today to schedule an appointment with one of our physical therapists.
