Dr. Ashley Watts

Clinical Director, Compliance Officer, and Physical Therapist – Wallingford

PT, DPT

I graduated from UConn with my Bachelor’s in Allied Health with a minor in Biology in 2012. I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from UConn in 2017. I was involved with research at UConn where I co-authored a publication in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research on the effect of novel mouth guards on physical performance, and performed my doctoral capstone project on risk factors involved in exertional heat stroke including the effects of hydration status and workout intensity.

I have worked at Carlson Procare as a physical therapist since receiving my doctorate. Since then I have taken extensive continuing education courses in orthopedics, sports medicine, vestibular rehabilitation, pain science, and manual interventions including Mulligan’s technique.

My core values are hard work, perseverance, commitment, dedication, teamwork, and integrity.

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

I am the Clinical Director for the Wallingford office, the Compliance Officer for the company, and the lead physical therapist for Wallingford. I specialize in treating patients with orthopedic and sports-related injuries with a plethora of musculoskeletal diagnoses as well as post-op orthopedic surgeries. I also specialize in vestibular rehabilitation where I treat a variety of patients with different types of vertigo, concussions, cervicogenic headaches, vestibular hypofunction, and balance and gait disorders.

I am deeply committed to treating a diverse range of orthopedic, sports medicine, and vestibular conditions, driven by my passion for helping individuals of all ages to enhance their functional capabilities and embrace an active, healthy lifestyle. A core aspect of my approach is the emphasis on individualized treatment. This is fundamental in ensuring that each patient receives care tailored to their specific needs, fostering an environment where achieving personal health goals becomes a positive and attainable journey.

What truly resonates with me in this profession is the remarkable teamwork and flexibility demonstrated by our staff every day. This collaborative spirit is not just about supporting each other but is also integral in making a significant difference in our patients’ lives. Witnessing the transformative impact of our efforts, as patients recover and return to the activities they love, is profoundly gratifying and fuels my dedication to providing the best possible care.

What is Ashley Watching, Reading, or Listening to?

  • Watching UConn Basketball Games!

When I am not working, I enjoy cross-country skiing, running, hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, biking, and roller skiing.

“This was my first PT experience and it went very well. I had some shoulder pain that wasn’t allowing me to do my regular workouts and I was experiencing some pain from normal everyday activities. Ashley explained what was wrong and had me back to normal in just a couple months. It felt great to see progress in flexibility and strength every week, and I feel like I have the tools to prevent it from happening again. Hopefully no more PT for me, but if so then I’ll be back visiting Ashley!”

“Ashley has been my therapist for most of the past 6 months. Her expertise has significantly reduced my pain to where I can enjoy life again! Ashley, Kevin and others are not only excellent therapists, they are very kind and sociable.”

“Ashley has been awesome. She is really helping me. I feel much better.”
